Peristaltic pumps have a wide variety of uses in industrial applications. In their most basic form, peristaltic pumps use positive displacement to pump fluids. Because of their unique design features, peristaltic pumps are well-suited to pumping abrasive and viscous fluids. Peristaltic pump manufacturers produce two types of these pumps – hose pumps and tube pumps. Professionals typically use hose pumps in applications involving higher pressure and they can operate in a state of continuous service. Professionals use tube pumps in low-pressure applications and in those capacities that do not require continuous flow.
